Continuous upscaling and averaging

چکیده
The procedure of upscaling/averaging the values and equations continuum mechanics appears in many scientific areas. Traditionally, upscaling is carried out by a “jump” between two distant scales. We suggest an alternative for gradual upscaling, with continuous transition from finer to coarser scale along axis, averaging on way. It shown, natural assumptions, that this similar Markov process described Ornstein-Uhlenbeck equation. This only option, unlike traditional weight averaging, where multiple functions are possible. An interpretation provided, solution equation obtained. demonstrate also that, under conservation laws flow expressed divergent form, fluxes upscaled same rules as densities. As example, diffusion coefficient derived.

Continuous Averaging in Dynamical Systems
The method of continuous averaging can be regarded as a combination of the Lie method, where a change of coordinates is constructed as a shift along solutions of a differential equation and the Neishtadt method, well-known in perturbation theory for ODE in the presence of exponentially small effects. This method turns out to be very effective in the analysis of one-and multi-frequency averaging...
متن کاملAveraging continuous distributions with the WOWA operator
The basic operations for combining real values in the frame of decision analysis are the Weighted Mean (WM) and the Ordered Weighted Averaging operator (OWA). The weighted mean allows the system to compute an aggregate value from the ones coming from several sources, taking into account the reliability of each information source. Alternatively, the OWA operator allows the user to weight the val...
متن کاملUpscaling for Adiabatic Solid–Fluid Reactions in Porous Medium Using a Volume Averaging Theory
In this paper, an upscaling study of solid–fluid combustion in porous medium with homogeneous and heterogeneous heat sources is carried out using a volume averaging theory. For the sake of simplicity, the reaction rate is assumed to be of first-order Arrhenius type and convection is not taken into account. Local thermal non-equilibrium is considered between the solid and fluid phases. During th...
متن کاملContinuous real-time correction and averaging for frequency comb interferometry.
Interferograms from a dual-comb spectrometer are continuously corrected and averaged in real-time. The algorithm is implemented on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development board. The chosen approach and the algorithm are described. Measurements with high signal-to-noise ratio, resolution and bandwidth are shown to demonstrate the accuracy of the optical referencing and the processing ...
متن کاملDomain Decomposition and Upscaling
In this talk we discuss the use of domain decomposition parallel iterative solvers for highly heterogeneous problems of flow in porous media, in both the deterministic and (Monte-Carlo simulated) stochastic cases. We are particularly interested in the case of highly unstructured coefficient variation where standard periodic or stochastic homogenisation theory is not applicable, and where there ...
